Dead and Berried @ the Five Point

|
Anyone looking for a great spot to grab a few drinks (not just on a Sunday morning like me but all day too!) can go to The Five Point on Main St. They have a great selection of drinks that will meet anyone's desires. I ended getting the 'girliest drink' award and boy was it delicious! Too bad the photo is very poor, but that just means you need to go get one yourself!

Venue WTF!!!

|
I am just going to say it... Venue you have disappointed me. This is not easy for me since our last affair watching Architecture in Helsinki was so amazing! I guess I am hard to please. Let me fill you in....
Last nite was the Twin Shadows show @ The Venue. For what its worth, the band sounded amazing, the lighting was trippy and the newest hipster trends were out in full force but I missed most of it.
Now (Don Cherry moment) kids if you wanna be a professional concert goer, you gotta show up when the doors open! I did not do that and it burned, not only because the tix were $30 bucks but also because I really wanted to see the whole show. When the doors open at 8pm, go for 8pm! Don't assume that there will be a wait for the bands.
Although we missed most of the show, we did catch a few great songs including 'yellow balloon' posted here! The band brought their magic with amazing light shows, hooking riffs, and great harmonies. Those precious few songs were enough for me to forgive the Venue for another great band and what could have potentially been an epic night out!

Slickity Jim's Review

|
The newly located Slickity Jim's is back in business!!! http://www.slickityjims.com/ After what seemed like a lifetime without one of Vancouver's finest chat n chews, ole Slick is back!!! The great names remain, the food quality is better and the service is warming and always present! What a great way to start a lazy Saturday afternoon before shopping Main St. Also, I chanced upon a stunning, seemingly Latin America influenced dining room that made my innards jump with joy! It looks like we are in for another treat no matter if its breakfast, lunch or diner!

Welcomed with a friendly wave!

Bring the House Down!

|
The dream of the 90's or 70's or whenever the airways were ruled by anthem rock songs preaching to bring the house down and to ring sweet mercy was alive as KROME  blitzed The Media Club. (http://www.themediaclub.ca/)  The vibe was energetic, rowdy and wild eyed as the Canucks took game 5 and everything was groovy! One Bad Son also put forth an epic version of 'Welcome to the Jungle' taunting Bruins fans with their cocky swagger. Great fun! Long live Rock n Roll!!!

Architecture in Helsinki live @ Venue

|
My heart it races every time Architecture in Helsinki rolls out those sweet vibes! Everyone's heart it races in fact as AIH got the whole crowd jumping from the start to finish last nite. It was a dancilicious festivity of grounded out groovy goods as the whole band was loving every moment and so were we! Hooray for Earth http://www.myspace.com/hooray4earth/music kicked off the show with their earth shattering drum beats and moody, sweeping vocals!  Be sure to check them out! Also, The Venue http://www.venuelive.ca/ once again outdid itself by providing us with a great space to enjoy this show (sticky floor and all!)
If you missed it but would like to see them check out the youtube video taken at the show last nite or wait til they come back in the fall.
